I am:
Sad because our scholarship children received no funds for July and August.
Glad because some of our German sponsors are coming to visit LOVE and, more importantly, their children.
Sad because many of our scholarship children were unable to take needed classes this summer.
Glad because 32 of our scholarship children found sponsors.
Sad because we were unable to provide text books to our scholarship children.
Glad because over 150 sponsored children received text books, school uniforms and school insurance.
Sad because only 10 scholarships are provided thus far for next year - we were hoping for 100.
Glad because our unidentified donor has agreed to extend to August his offer to donate $1 for every $2 that is donated to provide a scholarship for a child or for LOVE’s general fund. In addition, he has increased this by donating an additional $100 to LOVE’s scholarship fund for each new Student House sponsored.

SCP, our partner in Vietnam, has closed one of its 5 children homes because they did not have enough funds to keep it open. This house provided a “mother”, a “father”, food, shelter, clothes, and an education to 30 children. Many of these children were moved into one of the other 4 houses making for crowded conditions; others, back to the streets.
At present, I have introduced a friend of mine and a friend of LOVE to the house and they are making a proposal. Please pray that all goes well.
It takes $1,500 a month to sponsor one home. LOVE is looking for churches, organizations, or one or more individuals who would be interested in sponsoring a home, either through LOVE or directly. We want to keep this information ready for when another home becomes available. This is the 2nd home in a year.

Sponsors Needed
Right now, there is a needy child living in poverty who is waiting for a caring person like you. We have many children who need sponsors.
To see these children or to fill out an application go to our web site by clicking child. Without your help, many of these will not finish school. For just $25 a month you can see that the child you choose will break the cycle of poverty by getting a good education, better food, clothing, and shelter. For more information about these children or an application form, you can also contact Reggie, who lives in Danang.
Please pray that we can find sponsors for all our children and put your prayers to work by sharing the need with your church, Sunday School Class, civic club, etc.

These children urgently need sponsors who will support a child for $25 a month or the whole family for $40 a month, and will pray for them, write and encourage them.
What have we done in July?
In addition to meeting with our sponsored children, giving out the children’s stipends, giving text books, and school uniforms to those who missed getting them in June, we visited the homes of our scholarship children to determine the most needy so we can find donors for them, and to determine who can be dropped from the program.
Now we have begun to visit new children who have been referred to us by churches, schools, other government groups and individuals. In August, many more children will be referred to us. I expect more than 100 in addition to the 50 we already have.
Below are pictures taken on our visits.
The father died, leaving his 92 year old mother, wife and 4 children. The oldest is in his 3rd year of university, but had to quit to find work.
The mother deserted, leaving a handicapped father, 2 children and grandmother. Father earns a little money cutting hair.
Family of 4 living in a rented room. Parents collect and sell items for recycling. They eat and sleep in this one room.
Father deserted his wife and 3 children.
Family of 7 in great need. Five in school. Father died 2 years ago.
