(1 John 3:16-18 NKJV) By this, we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Praise God! Sponsored children and families are now 135.

We are asking and hoping for 200 by the end of 2009. Please pray with us about this. At present about half of our donations come through our sister organization, Together for Vietnamese Children, in Germany and half comes directly to LOVE. All of our Student House sponsors come through LOVE, but our European friends hold more than a 2-1 edge on the number of sponsored children. Donations for our unsponsored children are about equally divided, but far below the $1,000 a month needed.

We at LOVE are grateful for all your prayers and financial support.

At present, LOVE has supporters from the following countries:

United States, Canada, England, Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore

At present, Together for Vietnamese Children

has supporters from the following countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Czech Republic

Sponsors Needed

Right now, there is a needy child living in poverty who is waiting for a caring person like you. We have many children who need sponsors.

To see these children or to fill out an application go to our web site by clicking child. Without your help, many of these will not finish school. For just $25 a month you can see that the child you choose will break the cycle of poverty by getting a good education, better food, clothing, and shelter. For more information about these children or an application form, you can also contact Reggie, who lives in Danang.

Please pray that we can find sponsors for all our children and put your prayers to work by sharing the need with your church, Sunday School Class, civic club, etc.

Share your love and faith

These children urgently need sponsors who will support a child for $25 a month or the whole family for $40 a month, and will pray for them, write and encourage them.

LOVE is very happy to introduce to you those who God has sent to help us in this ministry.

Our ministry has grown so much in the last year that we can no longer rely just on a volunteer staff and hope to employ these people full time.

Tran Thi Bao Chi, my wife, will serve as my Assistant, Office Manager, and Coordinator of Sponsored Children, in addition to serving in the field.

Chi is soon to be the mother of two so will be limited in her service for at least a year.

Nguyễn Thị Phương Thảo (in purple) started with LOVE as a student volunteer, and after school she worked as a bookkeeper in Quang Nam before returning to us.

Thao is from Dai Loc in Quang Nam. She is 25 and single.

As a LOVE Representative, Thao will serve as bookkeeper, do some translations, and field service.

Nguyễn Hoàng Vĩnh Phúc came to LOVE in January. She is a Danang native.

Phuc is 23 and single. As a LOVE Representative, she serves as a translator, staff secretary, and also does field service.

Nguyen Nam Phuong is our newest member and comes to us from Hoi An, a resort town about 30 km from Danang. Phuong is the son of a pastor and worked in a 5 star hotel before coming to LOVE. Phuong is 25 years old and single. As a LOVE Representative, he serves as a translator as well as field service. Phuong’s ministry gift is helps (1 Cor 12:28) and he loves to help others

All of the above have university degrees and in addition to their main jobs, all of them will also serve in the field visiting homes and handing out monthly allotments to the children, taking children out for gifts, etc.

Please pray that Chi, I, and the above representatives will fulfill God’s call.

Unsponsored Children

In the past, LOVE paid approximately $6 a month for each unsponsored child.

At present we are considering three plans:

1. if we can raise the money this summer, we would like to give each unsponsored child 500.000 vnd (about $30 each) in September and 400.000 vnd in January (about $22.50 each). This is when school fees, cost of text books, school uniforms are due. This is the best plan, both for the children and for LOVE. Total need is $3,000 for 100 children. A total cost of $5,250 a year.

2. If we cannot raise $3.000, then we would like to give each unsponsored child 100.000 vnd ($6)each month. A total cost of $600 a month or $7,200 a year.

3. If we can raise $900 a month, then we would like to give each unsponsored child 150.000 vnd ($9) each month. A total cost of $10,800 a year.

His father works as a rent driver. His eldest sister is going to college this year and the tuition will be very high. His father married another wife and she is pregnant so she cannot work. Duy now has 1 elder sister and 1 step younger sister.

(Psa 41:1-3 NKJV) Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.
