Psalm 139:1-12

O Lord, you have searched me and known me!

You know when I sit down and when I rise up;

you discern my thoughts from afar.

You search out my path and my lying down

and are acquainted with all my ways.

Even before a word is on my tongue,

behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.

You hem me in, behind and before,

and lay your hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;

it is high; I cannot attain it.

Where shall I go from your Spirit?

Or where shall I flee from your presence?

If I ascend to heaven, you are there!

If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!

If I take the wings of the morning

and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

even there your hand shall lead me,

and your right hand shall hold me.

If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,

and the light about me be night,”

even the darkness is not dark to you;

the night is bright as the day,

for darkness is as light with you.

In the midst of these very difficult days in the world, and perhaps you are facing those days, we choose to turn our eyes upon Jesus. He alone is our hope, our peace and our way forward. This psalm brings comfort and gives us new strength, especially on the days our heart is heavy about personal struggles and evil in the world. Whether we are in a physical or mental place of darkness, He is there. He is our sure hope – our confident assurance that in His presence all evil is exposed, sin is conquered, and We are not alone!

And with your sincere love, you also did not leave our children in Vietnam alone.

We are truly grateful for that. Here are some of beautiful things we have done over the past few months for the poor children in Vietnam that we are caring for:

BACK TO SCHOOL WITH JOY

Over 160 sets of school supplies have been distributed to sponsored children and their siblings. Each set included a pair of shoes, a school backpack, notebooks, textbooks and uniforms. All supplies were delivered to the children by mid-July. These are one of the many benefits of children and their siblings during the sponsorship time.

Unlike previous years, the joy began in late June, when the children visited a shoe store and happily chose the pairs they loved. For many of them, this might have been the first time they ever went to a big shoe store to buy shoes. We saw, It was also a very headache time for them and family to pick the very ones they want to have. Many of them even wrote about their feelings in their letters to their sponsors

SMILES OF HOPE

Braving long distances under extreme heat, HOPE SCHOLARSHIPS were delivered to disadvantaged ethnic minority students living in the remote mountainous areas of Quang Ngai, A Luoi, Dong Giang and Tay Giang. Along with the scholarships, the children also received school supplies. Their smiles are so radiant, heartwarming and truly touching, aren’t they? The staffs smiled too because all of the sandals that the staffs chose for them in advance; it fixed them beautifully and neatly.

PLEASE HELP!

These two ethnic minority students are in urgent need of support. With $200/year, you can help them begin their university journey more smoothly, while additional gifts and letters of encouragement will further motivate them to persevere.

L.O.V.E.'s Note:  From a poor mountain farming family, he is now a first-year student, aspiring to be a teacher. But with tuition and boarding fees beyond his parents’ reach, a $200 HOPE Scholarship would give him the chance to continue.

L.O.V.E.'s Note:  She dreams of becoming a teacher to help poor children in her village, but her farming family cannot afford university costs. A $200 HOPE Scholarship would keep her dream alive.

BRIGHTER LIVES GIFTS

In addition, to bring the children a brighter and happier start, L.O.V.E distributed 50 Brighter Lives gift packages to poor students in the mountainous and suburban areas of Da Nang, as well as ethnic minority students in nearby regions. Each package included a food basket, a school backpack, notebooks, and a study lamp. The light from these lamps not only helps the children study more conveniently at night, but also symbolizes hope and new opportunities on their journey to education. A big thank you to our loving and generous donor, Mr Paul.

ESSENTIAL MEDICINES DELIVERED

In the same village where L.O.V.E donated solar lights last year, this year we were able to provide essential medicines such as treatments for stomachache, diarrhea, fever, gastritis, pain relief, skin conditions and basic first aid.

In a small but meaningful way, the basic healthcare needs of the villagers have been met. We sincerely thank our generous donor for making this possible. If you want to know more about our medical cabinet, please visit here, https://loveofvietnamexpressed.org/wp/programs/medical/

FLY WITH LOVE 2025

In the end of July, "Fly with LOVE" program took place. This event was held for students who completed their sponsorships in the 2024-2025 school year. Most of the participants were students who graduated this summer. There were a couple of students received the sponsorship for up to 10 years.

Through a variety of activities such as team games, group sharing, and fun quizzes, the students and L.O.V.E staff had the opportunity to look back on their sponsorship journey. These moments were filled with appreciation as the children expressed sincere gratitude to their sponsors for the support that has accompanied them over the years. Beyond recalling the help they have received, the students also recognized their own personal growth and the confidence they have gained.

We also wished the students all the best and encouraged them to approach everything with love and sincerity and help a needy child here and there in the future when their finance is allowed. As the program came to a close, the staff members took turns presenting small farewell gifts to the students.

EXTRA BLESSINGS

In addition to their sponsorship, some children were surprised and delighted to receive extra gifts. These thoughtful presents brought them even more joy and reminded them that they are truly cared for and cherished.

MY FAMILY:

My family has six members: my parents, three siblings and me. We are living in a small, run-down social housing apartment. My father was the main provider, but recently he had a work accident and broke his leg, so he can no longer do heavy labor. My mother works as a cleaner and plants greenery, but her back pain prevents her from working regularly, leaving our family with very little income. Because of our financial struggles, my eldest sister had to stop her studies after high school. She now works as a kitchen helper in a small restaurant with a low and unstable salary, which is only enough for her personal expenses. My two other siblings and I love going to school and work hard in our studies, but with all three of us attending school, the costs of tuition, books and daily expenses place a heavy burden on our parents.

MY STUDY:

I am in 8th grade and a rather active student at school. I really hope that my studies will not be interrupted so that I can achieve my dream of becoming a teacher in the future. Due to my family circumstances, I cannot attend extra classes. I sincerely hope to receive support so that I can have better learning conditions and a brighter future. Please help me!

Family members:

·        Nguyen Van Man (1974) – Father – Bricklayer

·        Cao Thi Dan (1979) – Mother – Unskilled labor

·        Nguyen Cao Bich An (2006) – Sister – Kitchen helper

·        Nguyen Cao Bich Nhan (2009) – Sister – Grade 11

·        Nguyen Van Dat (2016) – Brother – Grade 4

L.O.V.E.'s Note:  The second daughter of this family is currently in our sponsorship program. Given their extremely difficult situation and the risk that the younger children may not be able to continue studying after high school, we propose offering one more sponsorship. This will help ease the family’s burden and give the girls a better chance at a brighter future. A family sponsorship is highly recommended.

(Luke 14:13-14 NIV)  But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

(Prov 31:8-9 NIV)  "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."
